Chris Brown was the selfnamed debut album by Chris Brown. It was originally going to be titled "Young Love", but they changed the name because they thought it was to childish. The album was released on November 29, 2005. The album sold over 2 million copies in the US, making it certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album has sold over three million copies worldwide.
After Chris had signed by Jive Records, he started to record his first studio album. The album was recorded in only a period of 8 weeks. In that time he recorded over 50 songs. The album earned Chris his first Grammy nominations. One for Best New Artist and the other one for Best Contemporary R&B Album.
There are released five singles from the album. These were the first singles Chris released in his musical carreer.
The lead single of the album, which was his first ever released single, was the song "Run It!" featuring Juelz Santana. The song was released on June 30, 2005 and peaked on the US Billboard Hot 100. It stayed there for over five weeks. "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" was released as the second single of the album and became his second top 10 hit already. The third single was the remix of "Gimme That", which features Lil Wayne. The fourth single of the album was ''Say Goodbye". The fifth and last single of the album was the song "Poppin'".
